Welcome to Changing Tides Counseling

Providing individual therapy for those ages 20+ in person in Spokane, WA and virtual throughout the state.

Therapy is like the changing tides, a constant ebb and flow that shapes the landscape of our emotional world. At times, the waves of healing may feel overwhelming, pulling us deep into reflection, but as the tide recedes, it leaves behind clarity and space for renewal. Just as the ocean’s rhythm is steady and patient, therapy works quietly over time, gradually reshaping and restoring our mental well-being, helping us to move forward with strength, even as the waters of life continue to shift.

Hi! I’m Anna (she/they)

So glad you’re here.

Young woman with long red hair, wearing blue glasses and a green knitted sweater, smiling at the camera against a dark background.

I’m a late-diagnosed AuDHD, queer, and genderqueer therapist and person who has lived experience (in and outside) of therapy. I don’t pretend to be perfect or to know everything. I understand the help therapy can provide while also acknowledging the pain that therapy has inadvertently caused for some. I aim to create a neuro-affirming space that works for you, your brain, and your nervous system.

— Ann Voskamp

A narrow dirt path winding through tall green and yellow grasses on a hillside, with a view of the ocean in the distance under a partly cloudy sky.

You may be here because:

  • You’re ready to unpack the trauma and pain you’ve been carrying for years. To break the bonds of generational abuse.

  • You feel overwhelmed, anxious, or triggered and you’re not sure why.

  • You’ve always felt like an outsider. You’ve been labeled with being “weird,” “too sensitive,” or “too emotional” and are tired of feeling alone. You want someone who gets you.

  • Your emotions are all over the place and you’re sick of feeling out of control. You want to feel stable and secure.

  • Or, conversely, you’re feeling so numb that life is passing you by, you’re going through the motions, but you just know there is more life to be lived.

A scenic coastal pathway with tall grass on both sides, a wooden bench on the right, leading towards the ocean under a partly cloudy sky.

You may be here because:

  • You’re really skilled at intellectualizing, you’ve been told you have a lot of self-awareness, but you’re needing more. To not just know but also feel.

  • You struggle to identify or name your needs, and may even be fearful of doing so.

  • You feel unworthy or not good enough.

  • You are having a difficult time navigating stressors, life transitions, and the current state of our country.

  • You’re wanting to improve your communication, learn assertiveness, set and maintain boundaries, and strengthen your relationships.

  • You deeply desire to be seen, heard, and understood.

Life is a bitch.

You don’t have to go at it alone.

Taking the first step to seek therapy is HARD. But you know that you’re needing more in your life, for your relationships, for you children, for yourself.

I thoroughly enjoy working with and supporting those navigating trauma wounds, those who are neurodivergent or exploring neurodivergency (Autism/ADHD/AuDHD), and those part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The work that I do with my clients is deeply relational, where we dig into the nitty gritty of a person's story and work together to find healing, safety, and stability. Many of my clients are those who’ve carried the weight of their pain for years. They feel isolated, alone, and need more for themselves. They are strong and resilient, but not because they wanted to be, but because they had to.

You no longer have to carry the weight alone. You no longer have to hide all the parts of you.

I welcome you to show up as you are.
